Malachite was set up in
1976 by Charles Mapleston following an initial career on the staff
of the BBC and subsequent work as a freelance producer and director for
both BBC and ITV. He was later joined by film editor and director Hugh
Newsam, writer and publisher Anthony Lambert, and Nancy
Thomas, veteran executive producer of the BBC's pioneering arts
flagship 'Monitor'. Our financial director is Keith Okines FCA.
Malachite has been a long-time member of
Pact (Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television), the industry's
key trade association. We were a founder member from its original
inception as IPPA (Independent Programme Producers Association) in the
early 1980's.
We are as happy making a modest
business video as a major broadcast series; the important thing is to have
creative control over all production stages from script to screen so that
ourselves, our clients (broadcasters and corporations) and our audiences
are fully satisfied by the process and the product.
