Having spent many years filming around Britain and the world with crews large and small and using both 16mm and 35mm film, Malachite “went digital” for the new Millennium, investing in new lightweight and compact digital video equipment. Increasingly Charles Mapleston now works on his own or with just one specialist collaborator. This low profile approach puts film subjects at ease and speeds the production process whilst maintaining the all-important broadcast quality, both technically and editorially.
